Our experience includes setting up a rational, manageable, work-oriented web for more than 4,000 network users on PC, UNIX and Macintosh. It had no webmaster and more than 200 HTML writers, yet its policy became part of Pratt & Whitney's ISO 9001 system. Several United Technologies subsidiaries adopted the policy, and its influence spread nationwide via Ragan Communications' "Intranet Report" (December 1996). Every document had an owner responsible for its content and impact on the network. This accountability allowed the official copies of the ISO system itself to be resident on the intranet.
